SHIPPING

Roaming Code has been helping companies get shipments off the dock for more than 10 years. Our mission is to apply the best technologies to reduce tedium, and increase accuracy and velocity.

Load Planning

Order lines are dragged to awaiting trucks to create shippable loads. Weight and pallet feet are maintained. Load reports are available to send to carriers. Drops are easily re-ordered for the most efficient routing. Loads are issued for picking along with Picking Lists and Packing Lists.

Picking

Our experience tells us that no business does picking the same way. Using our Scanning Application Framework (SAF), we can quickly prepare a process flow that fits your business mission. Our Framework handles most of the details that are involved in building AUTOID, mobile applications. We can concentrate on the business logic instead. We understand the implications of:
  • Directed verses undirected picking
  • Paperless processes
  • Integrated Label printing
  • Customer-specific label requirements
  • Serial Number capture

Loading and Mapping

Generally, product is picked and staged for awaiting trailer-loads. We can provide serialized pallets with specific labeling based on customer, carrier, or destination. For loads with multiple drops, we can provide the driver with a map of the pallets that belong to each drop.

Shipping and Posting

As pallets are loaded, the status of each is recorded. We provide the visibility and accountability you require in your processes. RoamingCode's Shipping Console can capture the driver's signature and prepare the BOL, Packing Slips, and export documents for the load. The Shipping Console is prepared to provide import files or database records for ERP integration.

SUCCESSES

Wire Manufacturer

Our client was seeking to reduce shipping errors and to automate order picking. A process flow was devised, documented, and reviewed that integrated with the client's legacy ERP system, running on HPUX. RoamingCode used its Scanning Application Framework to provide working applications in weeks. The system was extended to enhance the EDI interface with the client's big-box customers. Because of the requirements of this class of customer, two different picking methodologies were constructed to optimize a reliable shipping schedule.

The system was quickly deployed to 5 shipping sites. The system have over 30 users, using Motorola MC9090 terminals. Additional applications were provided: Stock Transfer, Production Completion, Receiving, Stock Lookup, and Counting. System reports are built using SQL Reporting Services.

The Scanning Application Framework has proven to be an accelerator for application construction. Our client has recently built and deployed applications in-house which leverage the framework's features.

RoamingCode is currently building customer-facing sites to present order and shipment information.
